Judo classes from 5 years old & upwards
Senior
14 years old and up
4pm - 5:30pm
We have a large and diverse Senior session at Buckingham Judo Club. Led by our Head and Assistant coaches, each session is varied and covers all aspects of judo, from physical conditioning to refining skills required to do judo effectively.
From the age of 14 and upwards there is an opportunity to train on the British Judo Association's 'Kyu' grade system. There are 6 'Kyu' grades, starting at red belt, all the way up to brown belt.

Once a Judoka obtains their 1st Kyu (brown belt) they can then attempt to obtain their 1st Dan.

All the required theory is taught within the class to pass the theory section of the Dan grade, along with Kata sessions with our highly qualified Kata coaches.

Everyone is welcome to join these sessions, regardless of physical fitness or skill levels.
Juniors
8 to 13 years old
3pm - 4pm
Judo for children has endless benefits, from building confidence, improving concentration, self discipline and learning self-defence skills.
Starting with Ukemi (Break falls) they will learn a range of skills under the watchful eye of our dedicated coaches in a safe and friendly environment.
It is also suitable for children with a wide range of disabilities, so everyone is included.
Judoka between the ages of 8 years and 17 years will train under the British Judo Association 'Mon' grading scheme.
There are 18 'Mon' grades, starting at red belt and finishing at brown belt - Please find details on the British Judo Association, Mon Grades webpage.
This follows on from the 'Sho' grading system. Gradings are conducted at regular intervals to ensure all Judoka progress at a good rate.

Each week we award a 'Judoka of the Week' certificate and a small prize for outstanding behaviour and displays of the core judo values.
Young Juniors

For our young Judoka, 5 to 7 year olds, we have a special training program called 'Koka Kids'. This program prepares the young Judoka by laying down the skills and foundations that players will need for their judo career. Grades are awarded on the 'Sho' scheme.

Gradings are free and can be recorded once a British Judo Association Licence has been purchased - British Judo Association, Licence Application.
